We had an install on Friday, July 3 and a complete re-working of a self-standing install on Sunday — replacing a heavy PVC test catchment system that failed with a test install of high grade shrink wrap.
The volunteer who did it shrink wraps big yachts for winter outdoor storage at his boat yard in Massachusetts. He saw the article in Bocas Breeze and volunteered to do a test self-standing rain catchment install when he came down in July. Results so far are very good.
We shrink wrap sandwiches, toys and yachts, so why not a wood frame to turn it into a rain catchment system where people are too poor to have zinc roofs? The cost of materials is $25 compared to $200 plus for zinc, and can be carried under one arm, instead of a file of guys carrying sheets of zinc on their heads.
We’re testing it now for possble wider use.
